Quinn Ewers Injury: Texas QB Leaves Versus Alabama

Update: Ewers reportedly will not return against Alabama and underwent an X-ray. If he has a clavicle fracture, he would likely be out a minimum of six weeks.

Texas Longhorns starting quarterback Quinn Ewers exited the game against No. 1 Alabama with an injury to his non-throwing shoulder.

Ewers went to the locker room and will likely undergo X-rays. Our panel of doctors have hope the X-rays come back negative for a clavicle fracture.

If that's the case and Ewers has an AC joint sprain, he could return after receiving a pain-numbing injection, according to the College Football Docs.

The injury occurred a play after Ewers threw a rocket pass to five-star wide receiver Xavier Worthy. Once the longhorns were on the goal line, Ewers scrambled backward to avoid getting hit by Will Anderson Jr. But, he threw the ball away with Dallas Turner closing in and landed on Ewer's shoulder.

The Texas quarterback laid on the turf for a couple of minutes and Turner was called for roughing the passer.

If Ewers has a clavicle fracture he would likely be out 6-8 weeks. At halftime, Steve Sarkisian said he wasn't sure if Ewers would return in the second half.

Before the injury, Ewers was on fire, completing 9 of 12 passes for 134 yards with a quarterback rating of 168.8. That includes a 43-yard deep bomb to receiver Xavier Worthy on the previous play.

Hudson Card was 4 for 6 for 59 yards in the first half after entering the game for Ewers.
