A.J. Brown is one of many prolific wide receivers to move teams this offseason but enters into the most unsure situation of the bunch in Philadelphia.
Luckily for Brown, despite a handful of injuries that have sidelined him over the last few years, he will enter the 2022 season at nearly full health with an SIC score of 94.
The 25-year-old missed four games, one with an early-season hamstring injury and three with a mid-season chest injury, but neither have risk of lingering into this season.
The biggest concern is with Brown’s knees.
The new Eagles’ No. 1 underwent what he called “minor procedures” on both of his knees last offseason. He suffered a bone bruise early in the 2020 season but played through the injury, finishing the year with 1,075 yards and 11 TD in 14 games.
The Docs are concerned that he will continue to develop and suffer from osteoarthritis, or wear-and-tear arthritis.
At 25 and entering his second NFL contract, Brown is young to be dealing with osteoarthritis, but his early-career surgeries point to future issues.
Luckily that won't impact him immediately; But what may limit his performance in 2022 is his new situation.
Jalen Hurts has yet to prove his ability to consistently get the ball to his best receivers on target and Brown will be entering an offense that is already colored with blue-chippers including Devonta Smith, Dallas Goedert, and Miles Sanders.
The YAC monster has been one of the more dangerous receivers since 2019, posting 185 receptions for 2,995 yards and 24 touchdowns on 295 targets with a ridiculous 16.2 average yards per reception.
