Which Giants Wideout Enters The Season With The Highest Health Score?

Sterling Shepard – SIC Health Score 71

Shepard has missed 20 games in the last 3 seasons. While he’s been effective when healthy, our team of Pro Football Docs have big concerns for him, especially coming off of a torn Achilles. Shepard tore his Achilles in late December last season and will likely begin the season on PUP, missing the first six games of 2022. He is approaching 30 years old and also missed time last year with hamstring and quad issues. Shepard only played seven games last season due to the quad, hamstring and Achilles injuries. In those games, he had 36 catches for 366 yards and 1 TD. The Giants already had a crowded WR room, plus they added Wan’Dale Robinson in the draft.

Kadarius Toney  – SIC Health Score 74

Toney had myriad injuries in 2021, and that is not a good trend for any athlete. He is not “injury prone,” as the injuries are not to one area, but there is still concern on our end. Toney suffered injuries to both his ankles, his hamstring, quad, oblique and shoulder just last season. During this offseason, Toney had a knee scope that caused him to miss OTAs. This does not bode well for the speedy WR, plus the Giants have a completely new coaching staff and front office. Hopefully this first impression doesn’t stick too long in the minds of the Giants brass. Toney also suffered injuries to his left shoulder in college, twice in 2017 and once in 2019. While Toney has potential to be a fantasy producer, his laundry list of injuries are concerning to our team of Pro Football Docs. He was on the injury report 12 out of 16 possible weeks last season. In 10 games last season, Toney had 39 catches for 420 yards and no touchdowns.

Kenny Golladay  – SIC Health Score 89

Golladay is the healthiest returning WR that the Giants have. He's expected to be the No. 1 wide receiver for Daniel Jones, but has had back-to-back subpar seasons. Last year, Golladay suffered a scary looking knee hyperextension and was slowed by a hamstring injury to start the season. He also had a rib injury in 2021, but none of those injuries are too concerning for our Pro Football Docs. It helps that Golladay does not rely solely on speed to create separation. None of his past injuries raise any red flags and it is quite possible Golladay finally has a good season for the Giants. That would be welcome news for him and the Giants, as he finished last season with 37 catches for 521 yards and no touchdowns.
