Turf Played Role in Anthony Richardson's Concussion

Indianapolis Colts rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson was ruled out with a concussion he suffered on his second touchdown run of the first quarter.
His chances of suffering a concussion would have been lowered on a grass field vs. a turf field, according to the Pro Football Docs.
By video, Richardson slammed the back of his head hard on the turf after taking a hit while crossing the goal line.
Much has been made about Aaron Rodgers’ Achilles tendon tear. Turf is less forgiving on lower extremity injuries, but there’s also an increased risk of concussion when players slam their helmet on the turf.
With grass, there’s still a risk of concussion when a helmet slams on the grass but the risk is increased on the harder turf surface.
Gardner Minshew has taken over as the Colts quarterback.
Richardson became the first Colts since Edgerrin James in 1999 to score two rushing touchdowns in the first quarter of a game.
