Ronnie Stanley - SIC Score 59Baltimore Ravens left tackle Ronnie Stanley was voted the best pass blocker in 2019, helping his quarterback Lamar Jackson secure the MVP. Pro Football Focus then named Stanley the 2019 Pass Blocker of the Year with a 93.7 pass-blocking grade. Since then and the 14-2 Ravens' season, Stanley has only appeared in seven games due to multiple ankle injuries. His back-to-back ankle injuries worry our panel of Pro Football Docs, resulting in a 59 SIC for the 28-year-old left tackle. The first ankle injury occurred on November 1, 2020. The left ankle dislocation forced Stanley to have season-ending surgery. He had just signed a 5-year, $98.7 million extension. After making a full recovery, Stanley re-aggravated his ankle in Week 1 — that was Stanley’s only game appearance. He underwent ankle surgery a month later to repair the ligaments between his fibula and tibia. He was given a six-month recovery timeline. On April 5, General Manager Eric DeCosta said the team is hopeful Stanley will be ready for training camp. A week later, he posted an Instagram video of himself walking. While coach John Harbaugh said the left tackle is on track to “play like Ronnie Stanley,” our panel of Pro Football Docs are not so optimistic. They find it concerning when injuries cross seasons, which has been the case for Stanley. The Ravens as an organization are not traditionally up-front regarding injuries. Look at how Lamar Jackson’s ankle injury unfolded last season. It was never clear if or when Jackson would come back last season. Thus, it is difficult for our Docs to really gauge how productive Stanley will be next season until footage emerges of Stanley back on the field. The left tackle's SIC score may improve as the season approaches, but for now he “might only be two-thirds of his former self.” The Ravens say the seventh-year tackle will be ready in time for training camp. Our panel of Docs disagree, but expect him back by Week 1.PFF ranks the team’s offensive line as 17th in the league heading this season. The team gave up 57 sacks last year. For 2021, Stanley received an overall PFF grade of 48.9.
