Lewis Cine Injury: Vikings S Leaves With Gruesome Ankle Injury

Minnesota Vikings rookie safety Lewis Cine was carted off with a severe lower left leg injury he suffered on a punt return in the first half against the Saints.

By video, Cine appeared to suffer a left ankle fracture dislocation while blocking on a punt. The first-round pick was airborne then landed with all his weight on the left leg, which gave way when his cleat stuck in the turf.

He was carted off with his leg in an aircast and was taken to a local hospital in London for surgery to reset the bone.

Once confirmed, Cine's season will be over. He was ruled out for the game with a leg injury.

The Georgia alumnus did not have any tackles on the year, playing behind starting free safety Camryn Bynum, but had done well in his special teams role.
