Lamar Jackson, the Ravens agile star quarterback, is dealing with a bone bruise in his injured right ankle, meaning he faces a different recovery process and likely will not return until Week 17.Dr. David Chao, ProFootballDoc, said this is a big distinction because ankle sprains can be played through, but bone bruises need to be rested in order to heal. The 24-year-old quarterback was injured at the start of the second quarter in the Week 14 matchup against the Browns.Jackson did not practice all last week and was inactive for the Week 15 matchup against the Packers.Chao said he expects Jackson to sit out all three practices this week and ultimately miss the Week 16 contest against the Bengals.“You could work your way through a low ankle sprain. A bone bruise you just need to rest it and stay off of it,” Chao said. “It’s just rest and time, there’s not much you can do to speed it up.”The 2019 MVP is known for his agile running ability, meaning he needs full use of his injured right ankle to be an effective runner, Chao said. If he is active for Week 16, it would likely be in a pocket passing role. Here are backup quarterback Tyler Huntley’s stats while filling in for Jackson:Week 11 start against Chicago: 26 for 36, 219 yards 0 TDs 1 INT, 7 rushes for 40 yardsWeek 14 replacing Jackson at start of second quarter against Cleveland: 27 for 38, 270 yards and 1 TD, 6 rushes for 45 yardsWeek 15 start against Green Bay: 28 for 40, 215 yards and 2 TDS, 13 rushes for 73 yards and 2 TDsBaltimore has gone 1-2 in those three games. The Ravens (8-6) face the Bengals (8-6) this Sunday.
