Jaguars running back James Robinson told reporters Tuesday that he is progressing well in his rehab from a torn Achilles.Robinson, who will turn 24 on Aug. 9, tore the Achilles in his left foot on Dec. 26 against the Jets. That gives him a nine-month recovery before the start of next season. He has a decent shot to be ready by Week 1, but may still need a ramp up period, said Dr. David Chao, ProFootballDoc. It's also possible he starts training camp on the PUP list.Rams running back Cam Akers was able to return about six months after his Achilles tear, but was clearly not 100% throughout the playoffs, Chao said.Robinson stands a better chance to be ready and effective, but will likely not look 100% until the second half of next season, Chao said.Robinson had a tumultuous campaign with the Jaguars last season, as former head coach Urban Meyer seemed to favor veteran Carlos Hyde over him for certain stretches of the season.Robinson finished with 767 rushing yards and 8 touchdowns, plus 31 catches for 222 yards. In his rookie season, Robinson finished with 1,070 rushing yards, 7 rushing touchdowns, 344 receiving yards and 3 receiving touchdowns.Fellow running back Travis Etienne Jr. missed the entire season after suffering a Lisfranc injury in his left foot during the preseason. Etienne's recovery will likely be ahead of Robinsons during training camp and the two will likely battle for touches to start the season.
