Jamal Adams Injury: Seattle Safety Appears to Suffer Torn Quad Tendon

Seahawks' hard-hitting strong safety Jamal Adams suffered a serious left quad injury on Monday night, Pete Carroll said to reporters after the win.
By video, Adams appeared to suffer a torn left quadriceps tendon, which would end his season, according to the Pro Football Docs.
If confirmed by MRI, the 26 year old will undergo surgery with a rehab timetable of 9-12 months.
Jamal Adams Injury Update
Similar to an ACL tear and reconstruction, even a partial quad tear needs to be surgically repaired.
After seeing limited initial video, the Pro Football Docs were concerned that Adams suffered a left knee ACL tear while trying to wrangle Russell Wilson on his blitz.
The torn quad tendon will still leave Adams with a full year of recovery and may be even longer before he is back to his all-pro form.
Depending on the severity of the tear, the All-Pro safety could be out for most or all of the offseason program.
Veteran cornerback Stephon Gilmore suffered a partial quad tendon tear in Week 15 of the 2020 season.
Gilmore returned for the Panthers on Halloween 2021, but was on a tight snap count until Week 14, only a week away from the one-year anniversary.
Adams, who is one of the best pass-rushing DBs in the league, has missed nine games in the last two seasons and was set to play this season with a cast to protect two fingers on his left hand.
The 26-year-old had his chronically-dislocated ring and middle fingers surgically fused over the offseason, but suffered a fractured finger during training camp that the Docs said will need surgery.
Before the injury, Adams had three tackles, one pass defended, and one QB hit through a little over a quarter of play.
Seattle improved to 1-0 with the 17-16 win over the Denver Broncos. The Seahawks head to San Francisco next week to face the 49ers.
