Super Bowl LVII: Is Jalen Hurts’ Shoulder Still a Concern?
2 min read • February 08, 2023
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, who is second team all-pro, suffered a shoulder injury in week 15 against the Chicago Bears.
Hurts missed the following two weeks as he was healing from injury.
But Hurts has averaged just 168 passing yards per game and has only thrown two touchdowns in the three games he’s played since returning from injury.
These injuries have concerned some fans and analysts covering the Eagles.
Hurts, who has a 93 SIC Score, has averaged 28 rushing yards and has two rushing touchdowns in his last three games.
But the Eagles have won those games with a 91-30 scoring margin.
According to our Pro Football Docs, Hurts shoulder isn’t an issue with throwing or running the football.
If he has pain on the day of the Super Bowl, he can opt for a pain injection. But that is unlikely, with multiple weeks to heal the shoulder.
Hurts will likely be close to fully healthy in the Super Bowl and shouldn’t have any limitations. This might be the game Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni decides to use Hurts as a runner more often.
Hurts had six games in the regular season with 15+ rushing attempts, but his last time with that many was when he injured his shoulder.
