Nearly a year and four months since tearing the ACL in his left knee, Odell Beckham Jr. suffered a re-tear.A day after securing his first career Super Bowl ring, the 29-year-old soon-to-be free agent faces another ACL recovery process. The good news is recoveries are typically quicker after a second ACL tear in the same knee, said ProFootballDoc, Dr. David Chao.Essentially, not as much reconstruction is needed during surgery on a re-tear of the ACL, Chao said. It's not impossible that Beckham could be ready for Week 1, but he will not be anywhere near 100% by September, Chao said.Depending on the roster situation he ends up in, it's also likely Beckham could start the year on the PUP list.Beckham looked dynamic to start the Super Bowl, catching the game's first touchdown and adding a 35-yard reception before suffering the injury on an incompletion in the second quarter.Prior to the injury, Beckham was hitting his stride with the Rams. In 6 games with the Browns this season, he had 17 catches on 34 targets for 232 yards and 0 touchdowns. In 12 games with the Rams (including the playoffs), he had 48 catches on 74 targets for 593 yards and 7 touchdowns.Beckham missed the first two games this season while recovering from the original left knee ACL tear he suffered in October 2020.He did not have full use of his knee to start the season, but improved markedly in the second half, especially in his ability to get open in tight spaces, Chao said. His recovery will be the same next season as well. Expect him to start looking like his usual self in the second half of the season, Chao said.He played a major role in the Rams securing their first Super Bowl win since 2000. Now with his first Super Bowl ring on his finger, he faces an uncertain future. The Rams have an interesting decision to make with Beckham. Fellow wideout Robert Woods tore his ACL in practice on the same day Beckham was signed, Nov. 12, 2021.Woods, 30, is signed through 2025 and has a much better chance to be ready and effective Week 1.Super Bowl LVI MVP Cooper Kupp signed a 3-year, $48 million extension with the team in 2020. He's owed $14.8 million in base salary next season.
