Newly acquired Deebo Samuel sustained a calf injury in Week 2 last year initially thought to be Achilles tendinitis but was a muscle strain, missing only one week before pneumonia limited him to 4 snaps in Week 8, rib and wrist injuries sidelined him for Week 18 and he did not play in the playoffs, there is some concern after a viral mid-June practice video showing possible weight gain that made him appear slow and out of shape though former teammates defended him, but if true the weight gain could affect his explosiveness and overall speed

Has been ruled out with wrist and rib injuries for Sunday's game vs the Cardinals, if they 49ers were in playoff contention, these are injuries he may have tried to play through

By video Deebo Samuel suffered a right calf strain towards the end of the Week 2 contest, CMC is already out on injured reserve for calf/Achilles tendinitis. the good news for Deebo is this is not Achilles tendinitis, it is a calf muscle strain, the bad news is muscle injuries linger, hopefully, Deebo can avoid injured reserve but we see a multi-week absence here to prevent the calf injury lingering for the 49ers star receiver, no surgery needed, it will get better, the 49ers will be safe multiple weeks, hopefully, he can avoid injured reserve and return ahead of CMC with his calf/Achilles issue
