WNBA Injury Report: Key Player Updates Week 3

Injuries are already shaping the early landscape of the 2025 WNBA season, with several star players battling setbacks that could impact both team performance and playoff outlook. This WNBA injury update breaks down the latest injury updates. Stay informed with our expert injury analysis and projected availability heading into this week’s games.

Napheesa Collier - Minnesota Lynx

Returned on Sunday after missing Friday’s game vs the Mercury with a knee injury. This season’s front-runner for MVP and last season’s Defensive Player Of the Year is extremely important to the unbeaten Lynx and her absence opens up opportunities for Diamond Miller and Karlie Samuelson. The Lynx have not been specific about the nature of the injury, but she hasn’t missed any minutes when she’s been available. Sunday she played 37 minutes and scored 24 points while grabbing 11 rebounds.

Sophie Cunningham - Indiana Fever

Sophie Cunningham started the season with a right ankle injury, and in Friday’s loss to Connecticut she injured the ankle again. She exited the game and did not return and hasn’t been seen in practice since the injury. Cunningham is an important player for the Fever defensively and is a great spot-up shooter so her missed time is highly impactful for Indiana who is reeling with injuries to Caitlin Clark and veteran Sydney Colson as well.

Sydney Colson - Indiana Fever

The Indiana Fever have been beaten up with major injuries to their roster to start the season. Caitlin Clark will be out at least four games, Sophie Cunningham has missed time with ankle injuries and now veteran Sydney Colson has joined them. Colson sustained an injury on Friday vs Connecticut and exited the game. Luckily for Indiana, Colson has returned to practice and appears to be ready for Tuesday’s game vs Washington.

Alyssa Thomas - Phoenix Mercury

Alyssa Thomas has missed two games with a left calf injury. The team hasn’t been specific about the nature of the injury, but the veteran forward has a chance to continue to miss time. The Mercury have maintained winning basketball during Thomas’s absence and are currently 5-2 with Thomas out, and Kahlea Copper having yet to make her season debut.
