Commanders rookie running back Brian Robinson was released from the hospital Monday, the day after he was shot twice in an attempted robbery or carjacking in Washington D.C.
Robinson was reportedly hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries and the Commanders have not ruled out a return this season.
The Pro Football Docs share optimism of a return this season because of where he was shot, his glute and his lower leg. His return is likely a matter of “when,” not "if."
The wound to the glute is likely not a big concern because the glute is typically the thickest muscle area in the body.
However, the other gunshot wound to his lower leg could significantly delay his return if there is structural damage to the bone.
If there truly is no damage to the bone, tibial nerve, peroneal nerve, tibial artery or popliteal artery then he could face a return timeline roughly 8-to-12 weeks.
The hope is his recent surgery was a minor procedure to remove the bullets. Overall, the gunshot wounds will likely not affect him long term in his career.
The Commanders selected the former Alabama rusher in the third round of the 2022 draft.
He amassed 2,704 rushing yards and 29 in his career at Alabama, including 1,343 yards and 14 touchdowns in his senior season.
