Texas vs Oklahoma State: Will Shoulder Injury Slow Down Spencer Sanders?

Texas injury report:

Junior defensive back Ryan Watts suffered a lower-body injury at the beginning of the second quarter. He walked off the field under his power, but it was prolonged. He instantly continued towards the medical tent for an evaluation on his leg.

After receiving a brief test, the Texas University medical staff decided Watts should head to the locker room for further testing. Watts did not return to action after receiving a diagnosis in the locker room.

The team suffered in Watt’s absence because freshman cornerback Terrance Brooks wasn’t ready for live game action.

Before getting injured, Watts led the team in tackles with seven on the day.

Starting left guard Hayden Conner has been diagnosed as suffering a stinger by Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian. He’s been one of the critical cogs in protecting quarterbacks Quinn Ewers and Hudson Card. Conner is the replacement for Junior Angilau, who suffered an injury in fall camp.

Oklahoma State Injury report:

It was huge news all week that senior quarterback Spencer Sanders was battling a shoulder injury that could keep him out of the team's game against the undefeated TCU Horned Frogs. But Sanders decided to play through injury against TCU, resulting in his worst passing performance of the season. He completed 44% of his passes while throwing for only one touchdown.

Sanders has been the starting quarterback in every game this season for the Cowboys, and there hasn’t been any indication that will change this week against Texas.

The Cowboys might use a more conservative game plan with Sanders still recovering from the shoulder injury. There could be more designed runs from Sanders this week as his accuracy is waning.

Sophomore wide receiver Jaden Bray made his season debut two weeks during the Cowboys game against Texas Tech. He missed the previous four games of the season due to a hand injury in fall camp.

During Bray's return to action, he didn’t look like himself. He wasn’t efficient in getting targeted eight times and only came away with two catches. He couldn’t attack the ball in the air. Based on hookemheadlines.com tracking data, Bray was 0-of-4 on contested balls against Texas Tech.

Last week, Bray missed a pivotal game against TCU after still having problems with his injured hand. There has been no indication that Bray’s hand injury isn’t still lingering. So, his playing status will come down to his pain tolerance.
