Saivion Smith Injury: Lions Defender Leaves in Ambulance

Update: Smith reportedly has movement in his extremities, a good sign he is not dealing with any long-term spine injury.

Detroit Lions cornerback/safety Saivion Smith exited the game in an ambulance after suffering an apparent neck injury early against the Patriots.

By video, Smith's legs gave out after his head collided with tight end Hunter Henry while attempting to press him at the line of scrimmage.

Although the gross motor instability is a scary sight, the hope is his symptoms are related to a potential concussion rather than a neck injury.

Based on limited video, the Pro Football Docs do not have concern for paralysis or other long-term effects from a potential spine injury.

Smith was taken to the hospital and the hope is that's precautionary.

#SaivionSmith taken of by ambulance. Hoping more precaution based on temporary neurologic issue rather than serious injury.
