Buccaneers' No. 3 wide receiver Russell Gage Jr. suffered a left hamstring injury at a joint practice with the Dolphins on Wednesday, leaving the team without two of their top three wideouts ahead of the preseason opener.
Based on limited video, Pro Football Doc believes Gage suffered a distal hamstring strain.
It's difficult to tell the severity by video, but because of his playstyle the injury is more serious than Mike Evans' hamstring injury and could leave Gage unavailable or limited for Week 1 against the Cowboys.
Gage, who was brought in to help replace Antonio Brown and provide much-needed WR depth, suffered the apparent left leg injury making a cut early Wednesday morning and limped off the field.
The strain is similar to the injury that Leonard Fournette suffered in Week 15 last season, which kept him out a little over a month before he returned for the Divisional round loss to the Rams.
The former Falcons wideout will miss key preseason time working with a new offensive unit.
Gage and Evans are now both sidelined while Chris Godwin, just off the PUP list, is working back from a torn ACL and veteran Julio Jones attempts to make it through a training camp without a hamstring issue for the first time in three years.

Here is the video that I took of the Russell Gage injury. It appears to be some type of middle to lower leg injury. #Buccaneers
