Pitt Injury Update: Will Pitt’s offensive line hold up after losing their starting LT?

The University of Pittsburgh (Pitt) lost their 2021 starting quarterback to the NFL and starting WR to the transfer portal. This made their ability to win, score points, and win in tight games.

But, after going 1-1 and scoring 30 points or more in the last few weeks, the team's offense seems to be looking more explosive. Nevertheless, just as the team was starting to get healthy, starting LT Carter Warren suffered a season-ending injury. This was Warren’s last year of eligibility, which means he will declare for the NFL draft.

Warren has been a mainstay on the Pitt offensive line since 2019, when he became the starting left tackle. He had 13 starts in 2019, eight in 2020, and 14 last year during the team’s ACC championship run. This year he was named captain and started the first four games.

Backup quarterback Nick Patti is out indefinitely with a leg injury. Patti started the team's game against Tennessee when Kedon Slovis went down with an injury.

Even though Slovis is the designated starting QB, he’s had injury concerns in the past. If Slovis were to have to miss a short or long period, then their third-string quarterback would have to play, exposing their lack of depth.

Also, Slovis is having a mediocre season, not ranking in the top 50 in passing yards, touchdowns, and QBR. Furthermore, he has a 1-1 touchdown to interception ratio.

Patti will be missed for his leadership and position stability.

Syracuse vs. Pitt Week 10 Odds

Pitt is favored by 3.5 points at home against Syracuse, and the over/under is 48.5, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
