Kansas City Chiefs' two-time MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes II suffered an aggravation of his previous right high ankle sprain on a third down rush late in the second half and limped off the field in obvious pain.
By video, Mahomes aggravated his right high-ankle sprain on the tackle by Eagles linebacker T.J. Edwards and will have limited mobility in the second half, according to the Pro Football Docs. His SIC score is 84, similar to his status in their win over the Bengals two weeks ago.
Mahomes had the same SIC score of 84 in the AFC Championship game the week after his initial injury and he rushed three times for eight yards.
Philadelphia has controlled the game in the first half, holding the Chiefs to 8:06 time of possession, 20 plays, 128 total yards, and six first downs, and Mahomes went 8/13 for for 89 yards and one touchdown with two rushes for 11 yards.
Because of Rihanna's Super Bowl halftime show, Mahomes will have a significantly extended halftime that could impact his treatment.
He can opt for a pain-numbing injection and will likely have his ankle re-taped to reduce any residual swelling.
