Nick Bosa Injury: Rusher Exits with Groin Tightness

The 49ers ruled out star defensive end Nick Bosa on Sunday after he suffered a groin injury in the first half.

Groin injuries often require multi-week absences for pass-rushers, according to the Pro Football Docs, because of the importance of core and upper-leg muscles.

The severity of soft-tissue injuries are difficult to judge by video, but the injury to the outside leg makes it harder for him to return.

Even if he can return in Week 6 or 7, he would be limited and lacking his all-world strength and burst.

The All-pro was caught by the CBS broadcast on the sideline in full pads and uniform talking with Fred Warner with under five minutes left in the fourth quarter, well after he was ruled out.

Bosa's injury leaves the 49ers without three starters on the defensive line.

Arik Armstead is out a few weeks with plantar fasciitis and Javon Kinlaw is out with a nagging knee injury.

San Francisco plays the Falcons in Atlanta next week.

Joey Bosa, his brother who plays for the Chargers, is also dealing with a groin strain and has not played since Week 3.
