Tyreek Hill (Free Agent)

Injury: Dislocated Knee, Torn ACL, Torn LCL, Torn MCL

Hill suffered one of the most severe injuries of the 2025 season, tearing multiple ligaments after a knee dislocation in Week 4. While modern surgical techniques have improved recovery outcomes, history shows that players returning from multi-ligament knee injuries often require 18-24 months before regaining peak explosiveness. At age 32 entering the 2026 season and currently a free agent, Hill faces questions about both recovery and fit with a new team. The combination of age and injury severity makes him one of the most difficult players to project entering the season.

Malik Nabers (New York Giants)

Injury: Torn ACL (Right Knee)

Nabers appeared destined for superstardom before suffering a torn ACL in Week 4. While isolated ACL tears generally carry a more favorable recovery outlook than multi-ligament injuries, there is growing concern about his effectiveness during the 2026 season. Recovery timelines often focus on when a player can return to the field, but regaining elite explosiveness, route-running precision, and confidence in high-speed cuts can take significantly longer. At sicscore.com we have expressed concern since early January that Nabers may not immediately return to his pre-injury form even when he is medically cleared to play. At just 23 years old, his long-term outlook remains excellent, but expectations for a seamless return in 2026 may be overly optimistic.

Tank Dell (Houston Texans)

Injury: Dislocated Knee, Torn ACL, Torn MCL, Torn LCL, Meniscus Damage

Dell's injury is arguably the most concerning among NFL skill-position players entering 2026. Multiple surgeries and an entire lost season have created significant uncertainty about his long-term outlook. Few players have returned from a combination of knee dislocation, multiple ligament tears, and meniscus damage without some decline in performance. While Dell has earned praise for his commitment to rehabilitation, his recovery remains one of the biggest medical storylines in the league. The Texans will likely be cautious with his workload, particularly early in the season.

Travis Hunter (Jacksonville Jaguars)

Injury: Torn LCL (Right Knee)

Compared to others on this list, Hunter's outlook is relatively encouraging. He avoided ACL damage and underwent surgery to repair the torn LCL. Before the injury, Hunter was already showing flashes as both a wide receiver and cornerback, demonstrating the unique versatility that made him one of the most intriguing prospects in recent NFL history. However, recent reports suggest Jacksonville views Hunter primarily as a cornerback entering the 2026 season, with offensive snaps expected to be more selective than many originally anticipated. That shift could reduce the physical burden associated with playing both ways while allowing the Jaguars to maximize his impact on defense. His recovery appears to be progressing well, but his role may look considerably different than what many expected when he entered the league.

Calvin Ridley (Tennessee Titans)

Injury: Broken Fibula (Right Leg)

Ridley's season ended in brutal fashion after returning from a hamstring injury only to break his fibula on his first play back. Unlike ligament injuries, fractures generally offer a clearer and more predictable recovery path. However, Ridley enters his age-31 season with multiple recent injury interruptions that raise questions about durability. While the injury itself is expected to heal fully, maintaining availability over the course of a full season remains a concern.
