As we wrap up Week 9 and look towards Week 10 of the NFL season, several teams are struggling with key injuries that may impact upcoming games. At SICscore.com, we provide expert insights from Dr. David Chao, MD (@ProFootballDoc) and other top sports doctors to help fans and analysts understand the impact of these injuries on the player and team.
The right hamstring injury Prescott suffered against the Falcons doesn't usually happen throwing, but it did for him and it's back foot.
That makes a big difference, not just for his mobility in running, but his base, the back foot especially is what you push off on.
If he has hard time being able to push off, that affects his base and accuracy and downfield throwing motion which is a big concern.
This is why we think there is serious doubt that Dak Prescott can play for multiple weeks.
Williams was hurt on the second to last play of the game on Sunday. By video he was rolled up on but there doesn't appear to be any structural damage, he's hurt not injured on that high ankle. Likely he won't miss any practice time.
By video, suffered a right AC joint sprain early in the game, continued to play and kept landing on it.
There shouldn't be any structural damage however it is painful and he could be limited, but will be available against the Eagles in Week 10, possibility he will get an injection to help with the pain.
By limited video with just one angle on a downfield play, it looks like he avoided a significant knee issue. It looks like a left knee issue, mild sprain at best. No tears, no surgery, minimum missed time. He was in a favorable position when rolled up on. It is possible he has a very mild grade one MCL injury.
For Week 10 his cutting may be affected, and he will have a tight recovery window to be able to play effectively but it remains good news, nothing significant for AJ Brown and we'll see if he does try and play. We think he has a chance.
Sustained a hard hit and was ruled out with a concussion. It is his second in two weeks and fifth in his playing career. We expect an extended absence and possible IR stint given his history with concussions.
Week 10 will be in question with the hip pointer he sustained in Sunday's game, if he misses time it won't be much time, unless he feels good early in the week, with hip pointers there's a tendency to feel worse before it starts to feel better so we'll know more throughout the week.
