Nick Bosa (San Francisco 49ers)
Injury: Torn ACL (Right Knee)

Bosa's 2025 season came to an abrupt end in Week 3 against the Arizona Cardinals when he tore the ACL in his right knee after just 14 defensive snaps. The injury marked the second ACL tear of his career, having previously torn the ACL in his left knee during the 2020 season. While Bosa has already demonstrated the ability to return to elite form following a major knee injury, a second ACL reconstruction presents additional long-term concerns regarding durability and cumulative wear. Fortunately, the injury occurred early in the season, providing nearly a full calendar year of rehabilitation before the start of the 2026 campaign.

Micah Parsons (Green Bay Packers)
Injury: Torn ACL (Left Knee)

Parsons suffered a torn ACL in Week 15 while pursuing Broncos quarterback Bo Nix, ending his first season in Green Bay after the Packers paid a massive price to acquire him from Dallas. The injury was particularly devastating because it occurred late in the season, shortening his recovery timeline before 2026. Widely regarded as one of the NFL's premier edge rushers, Parsons' game is built on elite burst, flexibility, and closing speed around the edge. Although modern ACL recoveries have improved significantly, the timing of the injury raises legitimate questions about whether he'll be at full strength when the season begins.

Mykel Williams (San Francisco 49ers)
Injury: Torn ACL, Torn Lateral Meniscus

Williams' rookie campaign ended prematurely after suffering both a torn ACL and torn lateral meniscus in Week 10. The combination of ligament and cartilage damage creates a more difficult rehabilitation than an isolated ACL injury, particularly for a young pass rusher whose game relies heavily on explosiveness and change of direction. As a first-round selection expected to become a cornerstone of San Francisco's defensive front, the organization will likely prioritize a cautious recovery rather than rushing him back onto the field. His long-term outlook remains promising, but expectations for an immediate impact in 2026 should be tempered.

Michael Hoecht (Buffalo Bills)
Injury: Torn Achilles (Right)

Hoecht's season was cut short after suffering a non-contact Achilles tear in Week 9 against Kansas City. The injury was especially unfortunate given he had already served a six-game suspension to begin the season, limiting him to just two appearances before landing on injured reserve. Achilles injuries remain among the most difficult recoveries for edge rushers because the position depends heavily on lower-body explosion and first-step quickness. While recent recoveries have improved compared to previous generations, regaining pre-injury burst remains one of the biggest challenges following Achilles surgery.

Landon Jackson (Buffalo Bills)
Injury: Torn MCL, Torn PCL (Right Knee)

Jackson's rookie season came to an early end after suffering tears to both the MCL and PCL in Week 10 against Miami, leaving the field during the first quarter of only his third NFL appearance. Multi-ligament knee injuries are considerably more complex than isolated ligament tears, often requiring lengthy rehabilitation and creating uncertainty regarding future athletic performance. With Buffalo already navigating several injuries along its defensive front, Jackson enters 2026 fighting not only to return healthy but also to re-establish his role within the organization.

Felix Anudike-Uzomah (Kansas City Chiefs)
Injury: Severe Hamstring Strain

Anudike-Uzomah's 2025 season ended before it truly began after suffering a severe hamstring injury during a preseason game against Seattle. The injury was visibly serious, as he collapsed multiple times while attempting to leave the field before ultimately being placed on injured reserve prior to final roster cuts, making him ineligible to return all season. Hamstring injuries can be particularly problematic for edge rushers because they directly affect acceleration, bend, and pursuit speed. The Chiefs' decision to decline his fifth-year option following the injury further clouds his future, making 2026 a pivotal season for the former first-round pick as he attempts to revive his career.
