With the NFL Combine taking place this week, medical evaluations will be just as important as on-field drills. Tennessee CB Jermod McCoy, Arizona State WR Jordyn Tyson, and Louisville WR Chris Bell each offer strong tape but enter the week with notable injury concerns that could impact their draft stock. Here’s the latest on their health status and outlook.
Jermod McCoy - CB Tennessee
Jermod McCoy did not appear in a game for Tennessee this season after tearing his ACL approximately 13 months ago. As a result, he does not have any 2025 game film for evaluators. However, his 2024 tape remains highly regarded and continues to support his draft profile.
McCoy declined an invitation to the Senior Bowl to focus on preparing for this event. His medical evaluations will be critical in the pre-draft process, though he is expected to receive clearance. McCoy won’t be working out or taking part in drills at the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis this week. He told reporters he feels healthy and ready to return, but will work out at Tennessee’s pro day rather than participate at the combine.
Jordan Tyson - WR Arizona State
Jordyn Tyson carries a significant injury history, having missed more than 15 games since 2022. His setbacks include a major knee injury involving torn ACL, MCL, and PCL ligaments, a collarbone fracture in 2024, and lingering hamstring issues during the 2025 season.
Despite producing at a high level when available, the volume of missed time, approximately 48% of games over that span, raises legitimate durability concerns. His hamstring issues affected portions of his most recent season, and he has elected to forgo on-field workouts and medical testing at the combine, a decision that may further impact evaluations.
Chris Bell - WR Louisville
Chris Bell underwent surgery for a torn ACL in early December 2025. As a bigger-bodied receiver, the injury may impact him less than it would a speed- or quickness-reliant wideout. However, his rookie season is likely to resemble a redshirt year, with a full return to form not expected until later in the season.
Bell received an invitation to the combine but is unlikely to participate fully in on-field drills. There has been no confirmation yet on whether he will undergo medical evaluations at the combine. Further updates will be provided as information becomes available.
