Now into the new calendar year, the NBA season officially turns the corner from early-season rhythm to the grind that tests depth, durability, and decision-making. As teams pivot toward the heart of the schedule, injury management becomes just as important as matchup strategy making this the point where availability, not just talent, starts to define contenders and pretenders.
Giannis Antetokounmpo - Milwaukee Bucks
Told reporters after Friday's game that he has a right calf strain and expects to miss 4 to 6 weeks. He will get an MRI on Saturday. The team did not disclose any further details at this time.
Devin Booker - Phoenix Suns
Sustained a right sprained ankle in Friday's game and will likely miss some time. By video analysis, there's a possibility of a high-grade sprain, which Booker has never had before. He's had smaller grade right ankle sprains in his time in the NBA, but nothing severe that resulted in a large amount of games missed.
Jalen Green - Phoenix Suns
Sustained a hamstring injury in Friday's game. This was his second game after having missed two months from the same injury. This aggravation will likely result in missed time once again.
Jonathan Kuminga - Golden State Warriors
Sustained a lower left leg injury on Wednesday and has been ruled out of Saturday's matchup and likely some time beyond that. There have been reports that the injury isn't serious and time missed should be minimal.
Darius Garland - Cleveland Cavaliers
Sustained a Grade 1 right big toe sprain on January 14th. A big blow for the Cavaliers who will be without Garland for at least the next five games and likely longer. He will be re-evaluated in the next 7-10 days.
Jalen Williams - Oklahoma City Thunder
Williams exited Saturday's loss to the Heat in the second quarter and was eventually ruled out for the remainder of the game due to what the team initially called right thigh soreness. However, the star forward underwent additional testing Sunday and will miss at least Monday's contest due to a right hamstring strain. The severity of the strain is unclear, but his timetable for now is indefinite.
Steven Adams - Houston Rockets
Sustained a sprained left ankle in Sunday’s game vs New Orleans as he was attempting to grab a rebound. Head coach Ime Udoka said there was lots of swelling but nothing was broken. Adams could put barely any weight after spraining his left ankle early in the first quarter and had to be helped to the locker room. He'll undergo further tests to determine the severity of the injury, but seems like he will miss some time.
Kawhi Leonard - Los Angeles Clippers
Leonard was sidelined for the Clippers' overtime win over the Raptors on Friday due to an ankle injury, but the superstar forward has been sent home to get treatment for a left knee contusion that he suffered against the Pistons on Jan. 10. Leonard won't be available Monday or Tuesday against the Wizards and Bulls, respectively, but he could return for Thursday's bout against the Lakers if the testing returns positive results.
Luka Doncic - Los Angeles Lakers
Played in the second leg of a back-to-back on Sunday as he is currently dealing with a groin issue. He will be closely monitored as there have been times he was visibly grimacing before sitting out Saturday’s game.
