With the calendar having flipped to February, the NBA season has reached the point where urgency replaces experimentation. With the Super Bowl now in the rearview mirror and the trade deadline officially passed, teams are no longer managing injuries in a vacuum. Roster paths are largely set, forcing organizations to weigh health and availability in real time rather than future flexibility. This is the stretch where durability and depth carry as much weight as star power, and where availability, not just talent, continues to separate true contenders from teams forced to recalibrate.
Jaren Jackson Jr - Utah Jazz
Jackson Jr. will undergo surgery to remove a growth in his left knee and miss the rest of the season, the team announced Thursday. The two-time All-Star, acquired from Memphis at the trade deadline, is expected to be cleared well before training camp.
Luka Doncic - Los Angeles Lakers
Lakers star Luka Dončić missed four straight games due to his hamstring strain. Dončić is progressing in rehab and hopes to participate in Sunday’s NBA All-Star Game as a member of the World Team. “That’s above my pay grade,” Redick responded when asked if Doncic will make an appearance this weekend.
Cooper Flagg - Dallas Mavericks
Flagg has a left midfoot sprain that will keep him out through All-Star Weekend, the team announced Wednesday. An MRI confirmed the injury, which occurred during Dallas’ game at Phoenix on Tuesday. He will miss Thursday’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers and the Rising Stars Game but is expected to return immediately after the break.
Alex Sarr - Washington Wizards
Sarr has suffered a right hamstring strain and is expected to miss approximately two weeks, the team announced Thursday. Sarr, one of three players averaging at least 17 points, seven rebounds and two blocks per game this season, will also miss Friday’s Rising Stars Game.
Anthony Davis - Washington Wizards
Fresh off his trade to the Washington Wizards and nursing a ligament injury in his left hand, the Wizards have announced that Anthony Davis will not see time this season and will be shelved for the remainder of 2025-26.
Steph Curry - Golden State Warriors
Curry will miss this weekend’s All-Star Game due to a lingering right knee issue, coach Steve Kerr announced Monday. Curry has now missed four straight games with patellofemoral pain syndrome, commonly known as runner’s knee.
Jalen Williams - Oklahoma City Thunder
Williams will be reevaluated after the All-Star break after suffering a second right hamstring strain in less than four weeks, the team said Thursday. He was ruled out of Thursday’s loss to Milwaukee after aggravating the injury on Wednesday. Williams had missed 10 games before returning Monday against the Lakers.
Tyler Herro - Miami Heat
Herro has been out since January 17th with a rib injury, and there is no timetable set for his return. His last chance to return before the All-Star break comes Wednesday in New Orleans, but Herro should be deemed doubtful for that contest.
Santi Aldama - Memphis Grizzlies
Aldama is set to miss a third consecutive game due to a right knee injury, and his last opportunity to play before the All-Star game is Wednesday against the Nuggets.
Scoot Henderson - Portland Trailblazers
Scoot made his season debut on Friday, February 6th, then missed Saturday's game for injury management purposes as he is coming off an extended absence due to a hamstring issue, but he is likely to return to action Monday. Should he suit up, he figures to see plenty of usage considering the plethora of injuries the team is dealing with.
Deni Avdija - Portland Trailblazers
The first-time All-Star has missed 5 straight games due to a back injury. He is slated to represent the World team in the NBA All-Star game on February 15th and at this time there is no indication he’ll miss it, but if he misses any more time, the Trailblazers could sit him for the exhibition game.
