With the All-Star break complete, the NBA season has officially entered its defining stretch, where experimentation gives way to urgency and every game carries postseason implications. The trade deadline is past, rotations are largely set, and teams must navigate the final push with the rosters they have, making health and availability immediate priorities rather than long-term considerations. Injuries are no longer abstract management decisions but real-time variables that can shape seeding, momentum, and playoff viability. At this point, durability and depth carry as much weight as star power, and as the standings tighten, availability, not just talent, continues to separate true contenders from teams already recalibrating for what’s next.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander - Oklahoma City Thunder

Gilgeous-Alexander has been cleared to return after missing the Thunder’s past nine games with an abdominal strain. He is not listed on the injury report and is expected to be available for Friday’s home matchup against the Denver Nuggets.

Jayson Tatum - Boston Celtics

Tatum has progressed to participating in full 5-on-5 workouts with the Celtics, a key milestone in his recovery from the Achilles tendon injury he suffered against the New York Knicks in the 2025 Eastern Conference semifinals. Team officials have indicated this is one of the final steps before his return.

Donovan Mitchell - Cleveland Cavaliers

Mitchell missed his second consecutive game on Friday when the Cavaliers visited Detroit. Mitchell sat out Wednesday’s loss in Milwaukee due to a right groin strain. Cleveland is 2-3 this season in games he has missed.

James Harden - Cleveland Cavaliers

Harden suffered a non-displaced fracture of his right thumb during Tuesday night’s game against the Knicks, the team announced Wednesday. X-rays confirmed the injury. Harden has missed the past two games for the Cavs.

Dillon Brooks - Phoenix Suns

Brooks broke his left hand during the Saturday game this past weekend and will be sidelined 4-6 weeks. This was a likely outcome based on previous players with this injury. At best, Brooks could be cleared in time for a return in late March.

Jusuf Nurkic - Utah Jazz

Jusuf Nurkić will undergo nose surgery this week to address a deviated septum and will miss the remainder of the season. He is scheduled to become a free agent after the season.

Shaedon Sharpe - Portland Blazers

Sharpe has been diagnosed with a stress reaction in his left fibula and will be re-evaluated in four to six weeks. Sharpe had already missed six games with a left calf strain, and follow-up imaging revealed the injury.

Coby White - Charlotte Hornets

White is expected to make his Charlotte Hornets debut Tuesday night against his former team, the Chicago Bulls. The Hornets announced that White, acquired in a Feb. 4 trade with Chicago, has been upgraded to available after recovering from a left calf strain that sidelined him since the deal.

Deni Avdija - Portland Trail Blazers

After missing some time with a back injury, Avdija came into Sunday’s game with concerns for that injury and aggravated it less than a minute into the game. It remains to be seen how long he’ll be out with this injury, however, the Trail Blazers aren’t completely out of the playoff picture and could look to remain competitive so they may not shelve him yet.

Santi Aldama - Memphis Grizzlies

Aldama has missed 7 straight games with a right knee injury and is likely to miss Monday’s game against the Kings to start the week.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope - Memphis Grizzlies

The Grizzlies announced Thursday that Caldwell-Pope underwent surgery to address the misalignment of his right pinky finger and will miss the remainder of the 2025-26 campaign

Jonathan Kuminga - Atlanta Falcons

Kuminga remains in recovery mode after sustaining a left knee bone bruise in late January with the Warriors. As a result, it appears the forward will miss at least Atlanta's next four games before being re-evaluated.
