The NBA season is a marathon, not a sprint. Every week brings new twists in the ongoing battle between talent and durability. From nagging soreness to major setbacks, injuries shape rotations, influence playoff hopes, and redefine team dynamics across the league. Each week, Sports Injury Central breaks down the latest updates, timelines, and recovery outlooks for players around the association, providing expert insight into how health trends could impact both the short-term box scores and the long-term championship picture.
Steph Curry - Golden State Warriors
Is set to miss at least a week, if not slightly more. Curry sustained a right quad contusion during Wednesday night's NBA Cup game vs Houston. He took several hits throughout the night and played most of the game in visible pain before finally leaving in the final minutes.
DeAndre Ayton - Los Angeles Lakers
Exited Sunday's game when he sustained a knee contusion in the first half and did not return for the second half. The Lakers have ruled out Ayton for Tuesday vs. the Clippers.
RJ Barrett - Toronto Raptors
Sustained a right knee sprain in Saturday’s game vs the Nets after landing awkwardly following a dunk. He was unable to return to the game and will undergo imaging on Monday to determine the extend of the injury. The Raptors play a back-to-back on Monday, more than likely Barrett will miss some time.
Tyler Herro - Miami Heat
Herro hasn’t played this season yet, having undergone surgery on his left ankle in September. However, he seems poised to make his debut on Monday. He’s been gradually increasing his workload during recent practices, but considering the time he’s missed, he expects to be gradually reintroduced to action over the coming games.
Isaac Okoro - Chicago Bulls
Okoro will miss his second consecutive contest on Monday vs the Pelicans due to a back injury he sustained in Friday's loss to Miami. His next opportunity to suit up will come Friday against the Hornets.
Jonathan Kuminga - Golden State Warriors
Head coach Steve Kerr said Sunday that Kuminga didn't participate much in practice, and he isn't sure when the forward will play next. Kuminga will miss his sixth consecutive game on Monday due to bilateral knee tendinitis, and Kerr said he's "not moving well”. Based on Kerr's comments, the 23-year-old can be considered week-to-week moving forward.
