Minkah Fitzpatrick Injury: Steelers Safety Slated to Play 1 Week After Appendectomy

Minkah Fitzpatrick was a full participant at Steelers' practice on Thursday only five days since he underwent an emergency appendectomy.

Missing only one game after an appendectomy is normal, according to the Pro Football Docs, and Fitzpatrick is in line to make his return in Week 11 against the rival Bengals and starting quarterback Joe Burrow.

Burrow suffered a ruptured appendix on July 26 and was still recovering from the weight loss and other associated issues when the regular season began six weeks later.

The ball hawk defensive back said on Thursday that he initially believed he had “bubble guts” and that he tried to convince the team doctors to delay the surgery until Sunday so he could play against the Saints.

Fitzpatrick has 45 tackles, three interceptions, and six passes defended in eight games and has a 79.3 PFF grade, the ninth-best among all qualified safeties.
