Miami Dolphins vs. New York Jets Injury Report and Prediction

6Miami Dolphins - SIC score 81

Starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was an early rule out after he suffered a concussion last Thursday against the Bengals, giving Teddy Bridgewater his first start since Week 15 last season with Denver.

Star wideout Tyreek Hill is another key injury to monitor for the Fins. Hill popped up on the injury report Thursday with a quad issue, which is never a good sign for a receiver reliant on speed.

Fellow wideout Jaylen Waddle has also been hampered by a soft-tissue injury since the week of practice prior Week 4. He missed practice Wednesday with the groin issue, but logged a limited practice Thursday and Friday.

It’s not a new injury, thus the Pro Football Docs expect he will play through, but he may have limited ability to create separation. After back-to-back 100 yard weeks, he had 2 catches for 39 yards on 5 targets against the Bengals.

On defense, Miami is still without No. 2 corner Byron Jones, who underwent ankle surgery in the offseason. No. 1 corner Xavien Howard has played effectively through a groin strain, but is still on the report for it. Slot corner Keion Crossen is dealing with glute and shoulder injuries which may cause him to miss the contest.

Through four weeks, the Dolphins rank 15th in points allowed, but have given up the second most passing yards to opposing teams

New York Jets - SIC score 82.6

To say the New York Jets have injury issues at the tackle spots would be the understatement of the season.

After Max Mitchell’s injury last week, the team is down to the third-string left tackle and fourth-string right tackle.

That does not bode well for second-year quarterback Zach Wilson’s ability to thrive in the passing game. His ankle issue in practice this week is not a concern for his availability, but may limit his ability to escape the pass rush.

Surprisingly, through four weeks, the Jets rank fourth in the league in passing yards while taking the 11th most sacks.

Most of that success throwing the ball was with veteran quarterback Joe Flacco at the helm. He averaged 300.3 passing yards per game in his three starts.

Miami, meanwhile, is tied for the fourth-least sacks in the league this season at 7, but has limited teams to just 69.3 rushing yards per game this season.

Expect the Dolphins to get pressure on Zach Wilson throughout the game, especially if the Jets fall behind early.

Dolphins vs. Jets Week 5 Odds and Free SIC Pick

Miami is favored by 3.5 points on the road and the over/under is 46.5, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

On Monday, the SIC score staff advised taking the under on the game total of 44.5 at the time because of the offensive injuries plaguing both teams.
