Mets Injury Report: Max Scherzer Returning Tuesday, Will Be Clear Of Oblique Strain

Mets' ace Max Scherzer told reporters on Friday that he will be reinstated from the 15-day IL and start on Tuesday against the Reds.
Max Scherzer Injury Update
The 37-year-old has been slowly making his way back from a moderate-to-severe left oblique strain he suffered on May 18.
Scherzer's recovery seven weeks after his injury matches the ProBaseballDocs' expected timeline when he suddenly left his start after the 87th pitch.
Scherzer will return with an SIC health score of 92 and should be able to finish the season with no limitations.
The six weeks and six days away is the longest trip to the IL in his 15-year career in the bigs and will have been an appropriate amount of time to rehab the muscle tear.
Scherzer and the Mets were flirting with the idea of coming back last weekend after he struck out six in his first rehab, but didn't follow through.
The three-time Cy Young winner said to The Daily News' Deesha Thosar that he blames himself for the injury because he pitched through it for four innings before finally calling for New York's training staff.
Scherzer was putting together another dominant season through eight starts, posting a 2.54 ERA and 59 strikeouts across 49.2 innings.
The Mets are 6-2 this season when Scherzer takes the bump.
