Lebron James is questionable with left ankle soreness, while Anthony Davis is probable for Tuesday's contest against the Knicks while ramping up from his right foot stress injury.
James did not play in Monday's road game against Brooklyn and is dealing with “some really significant soreness” in his left foot, head coach Darvin Ham told reporters Monday.
"It’s gonna be the idea to kind of ease off him a little bit, let his body calm down a little bit, specifically his foot,” Ham said Monday.
The four-time MVP missed five games in November after suffering a left groin strain, then suffered a left ankle sprain in the Nov. 28 contest against the Pacers. He returned to that game and finished with 21 points, but has missed 5 games with left ankle soreness in the 32-game stretch since then.
He has not missed two games in a row since suffering the left ankle injury.
If the 38-year-old misses Tuesday's contest in Madison Square Garden, it would mark the second straight season he does not play against the Knicks in the big apple. James missed last year's bout due to suspension.
Despite battling the ankle injury, James averaged 31.2 points in 36.4 minutes per game across 14 contests in December.
In January, he has averaged 34.3 points, 9.3 rebounds and 8 assists in 37.4 minutes across 12 games.
Davis returned last Wednesday against the Spurs and had 21 points and 12 rebounds in 26 minutes. He had 16 points and 10 rebounds in 33 minutes in Saturday's overtime loss to the Celtics.
This season, the Lakers are 9-12 when Davis and James both play. Los Angeles is currently the 13th seed in the Western Conference at 23-28 on the season.
The Knicks are favored by 1.5 points at home and the over/under is 232, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
Los Angeles is currently +4800 to win the NBA Finals and James is +4500 to win regular season MVP.
