With seven games remaining in their season, Kevin Durant will make his home debut in Phoenix Wednesday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Prior to his previously scheduled home debut on March 8, Durant suffered a Grade 2 left ankle inversion sprain during pre-game warm ups.
At the time, our panel of Pro Basketball Docs detailed why a late March return was likely for Durant.
The former Net missed 10 games with the left ankle injury over the span of three weeks. Expect the team to ease him back into the lineup with the playoffs less than a month away.
Phoenix currently sits in the No. 4 spot in the Western Conference, a half-game ahead of the Clippers.
The team went 4-6 without the 13-time All-Star, who has appeared in just three games for the Suns since he was acquired from Brooklyn at the trade deadline.
Durant is averaging 26.7 points and shooting 69% since joining Phoenix and the Suns are undefeated when he suits up.
Wednesday’s matchup is crucial for the Suns and Minnesota Timberwolves, who currently hold the No. 7 spot in the Western Conference at 39-37.
The Timberwolves are two games up on the 10th place Thunder and trail the 6th place Warriors by a half game.
The Suns are favored by 6 points at home against the Timberwolves and the over/under is 235, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
Phoenix has the third-best odds to win the NBA Finals at +700.
