The 22nd-ranked Kansas State Wildcats have a big test this week against the ninth-ranked Oklahoma State. The game will be played at Bill Snyder Family Stadium in Manhattan, Kansas.
The Wildcats are coming off a 10-point loss to TCU, including their starting quarterback Adrian Martinez going out with an injury after the first series. Martinez never returned to the game after being diagnosed with a leg injury.
Kansas State head coach Chris Klieman discussed the Wildcats’ injuries to reporters at his Tuesday press conference “We've got a lot of guys beat up that I don't probably have a lot of information for you just after a Monday practice, but we'll see who's available. But in hindsight, we've got to move forward with the guys we know who are going to practice, and those guys have to be ready to play.”
Before going out with injury, Martinez was having a tremendous year throwing for 907 yards, four touchdowns, and no interceptions and, at the same time, adding 565 yards on the ground with a team-leading nine rushing touchdowns.
On the defensive side of the ball, starting middle linebacker Daniel Green and cornerback Julius Brents suffered injuries in the team’s last game. Green did not return to action, and Brents played sparingly.
“I would say it's a better chance of Julius right now,” Klieman said. Deuce (Green) is getting some other things done today, but I probably won't know until late this afternoon what they find out.”
Green leads the team in interceptions as a linebacker, with two on the year. But during his absence, Nick Allen took over the middle linebacker role and dominated with 10 tackles against TCU.
Kansas State is favored by 1.5 points at home against Oklahoma State, and the over/under is 55.5, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
