Jordan Poyer Not Cleared to Fly Because of Injured Ribs

Jordan Poyer, the Buffalo Bills' All-Pro strong safety, reportedly used a car service to get from Buffalo to Kansas City for Sunday's game against the Chiefs.

Poyer made the 15-hour journey by car because he has not been cleared to fly after suffering an injury to his ribs in Week 4.

The 10th-year pro suffered the injury on a late interception in the end zone:

His post game X-rays were reportedly negative, but stadium X-rays do not always detect small fractures, according to the Pro Football Docs.

He likely flew back with the team from Baltimore, a short flight, before the rib injury was fully detected through X-ray and MRI at the team facility.

The fact that he has not been cleared to fly suggests he's dealing with a partially collapsed lung. The risk in that case is the increased air pressure from flying.

Usually small air leaks seal themselves, therefore it is less risky to play football than fly.

He had four combined tackles in Sunday's win over the Chiefs and reportedly used the car service to make the journey back to Buffalo.

The good news for Poyer is this is likely the last time he'll have to endure a long drive this season. Buffalo has a bye in Week 7, then face the Packers at home in Week 8.

By then, Poyer's injury will assuredly be cleared to fly.
