Starting strong safety Jordan Poyer was at practice but didn't participate on Wednesday and is reportedly considered week-to-week after aggravating an elbow injury ahead of the Bills' game against the Jets in Week 9.
Poyer's left elbow injury – when his arm hyperextended and dislocated and he “felt a pop” while attempting a tackle late in the third quarter – was consistent with a torn UCL, according to the Pro Football Docs.
Because he is a non-throwing athlete, Poyer won't need surgery to repair the apparent tear and should return in a few weeks, likely with a heavier brace.
The 31-year-old initially hyperextended his left elbow on Aug. 2 but returned in time for Week 1 and has played the season with a brace.
After playing in 84 of 88 games since coming to Buffalo in 2017, Poyer missed Week 3 with a foot injury and Week 5 with a ribs injury that prevented him from flying and forced him to drive to Kansas City.
Starting free safety Micah Hyde underwent neck surgery for a herniated disc he suffered in Week 2 and will miss the regular season with a chance to return in the playoffs.
The Bills activated all-pro cornerback Tre'Davious White from the PUP list as his 21-day practice window was set to expire on Wednesday and Sean McDermott said he could return this week.
