Jonathan Taylor Poised to Return as Top Fantasy Running Back

Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor could finally be poised to return as a top RB1 in 2024. Taylor who has dealt with a laundry list of injuries the past two seasons enters this year with a clean bill of health from our Pro Football Docs.

Taylor was a breakout star in 2021, leading the NFL in rush yards and touchdowns. But not much has gone right since. Taylor has missed 13 games and only managed 11 rushing touchdowns combined in the past two seasons.

In 2022, Taylor suffered a right ankle injury that caused him to miss 6 games and have offseason surgery. In 2023, that same injury caused Taylor to start the season on the PUP list missing the first 4 games. Once off the list Taylor was awarded with a new contract by the Colts but suffered a torn UCL in his left thumb in week 12 that caused him to miss 3 more games finishing the season with a career-low 741 rushing yards.

Entering this season our Pro Football Doc expects Taylor to be fully healthy for the start of training camp and be ready to be a workhorse RB beginning in week 1. Another benefit for Taylor is that Indianapolis returns all five offensive line starters for 2024 and QB Anthony Richardson will also be healthy for camp.
