J.K Dobbins Injury: What is the Ravens' RB's Status for Week 1?

Lamar Jackson might have spilled the beans on Baltimore Ravens running back J.K. Dobbins in a press conference Wednesday, saying “hopefully he’ll be out in a couple of weeks.”

Jackson’s tempered expectations for Dobbins fit what the Pro Football Docs have detailed since early June.

If Dobbins does suit up Week 1, do not trust him in fantasy or DFS, according to the Pro Football Docs.

J.K. Dobbins Injury Update

The third-year running back is returning from a torn left ACL with LCL damage and is still likely a few weeks away from returning to the field.

Dobbins was limited in practice on Wednesday and has progressed well in his rehab, but he is returning from a severe knee injury he suffered just over a year ago.

The ability to decelerate and cut is vital for a shifty back like Dobbins and, by video, he is not quite there in his recovery, according to the Pro Football Docs.

October is likely a realistic target for Dobbins to return and start running effectively in games. The hope is he can have a strong second half of the season, hence his season SIC score of 59.

Baltimore head coach John Harbaugh has spoken glowingly about Dobbins’ progress in recent press conferences, but he employed a similar tactic when Jackson was recovering from his ankle bone bruise last season.

Each week after Jackson suffered the bone bruise last season, Harbaugh said he looked great and was trending towards playing.

However, the star quarterback missed the final four weeks of the season with the ankle injury.

Ravens vs. Jets Week 1 Odds

As of Thursday afternoon, the Ravens are 6.5-points favorites against the Jets in New York, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

With Gus Edwards on PUP and Dobbins unlikely to play, Mike Davis and Kenyan Drake will likely handle a majority of the running duties.

The Ravens are +145 to win the AFC North.
