J.C. Jackson Returns for Thursday Night Matchup Against Chiefs

J.C. Jackson is a gametime decision for tonight’s matchup against the Chiefs while recovering from ankle surgery he underwent in late August.

NFL Insider Ian Rapoport revealed this morning that Jackson underwent the surgery to remove an extra bone in the back of his ankle that was reportedly causing pain and inflammation.

This issue is called os trigonum syndrome, which is deep behind the ankle and involves the tendons.

The Pro Football Docs would be surprised if he can play Week 2, but he should be good for Week 3.

Goal is to always do surgeries early in the offseason. Unsure when he got signed, even if you know about it if it doesn’t bother you leave it alone.

Jackson’s reported timeline was 2-to-4 weeks when he underwent the surgery. This is just past the third week, but likely too soon for him to return and play effectively.

The 26-year-old corner has yet to make his debut for the Chargers, who signed him to a five-year, $82.5 million contract in March.

Los Angeles beat the Raiders 24-19 in Week 1.
