Indiana Fever Star Caitlin Clark Out at Least Two Weeks With Quad Strain

Caitlin Clark Injury Update

Caitlin Clark has sustained the first injury of her WNBA career that will cost her at least two weeks.

The Indiana Fever announced on Monday that Clark has sustained a left quadriceps strain and will miss at least two weeks, which could be up to four games.

It’s hard to pinpoint where she sustained the injury as she played the entire game on Saturday in a loss vs the New York Liberty.

This marks the first regular-season games Clark will have missed in her WNBA career. She previously sat out a 2025 preseason contest versus the Washington Mystics with an injury on the same leg.

How Long Will Caitlin Clark miss? Expert Sports Doctor Analysis

The quadriceps is a major muscle group needed for all skills in basketball and this injury is unlikely to get better in two weeks. Two weeks is more along a re-evaluation timeline and we expect her to be out closer to a month. The good news, however, is we don't expect this to have long-term effects on her career.

If she misses closer to a month, that is a significant time loss for Clark and the Fever. The WNBA season is only 44 games, being out for close to a month would be approximately 20% of the season. She will miss games vs the Connecticut Sun, Washington Mystics, and two highly anticipated games vs the Chicago Sky in the next two weeks, and her timeline will be updated upon re-evaluation.

Clark is averaging 19.0 points, 9.3 assists, 6.0 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.0 blocks per game, shooting 40.3 percent from the floor and 31.4 percent from beyond the arc. The Fever will likely have to lean on Kelsey Mitchell, Lexie Hull and Sophie Cunningham to help shoulder the backcourt load.
