The Indiana Fever’s playoff push has taken a significant hit, as the team announced that guards Sydney Colson and Aari McDonald will both miss the remainder of the season due to major injuries.

Colson, a veteran presence and locker room leader, suffered a torn ACL in her left knee during Thursday’s game vs the Mercury. The injury will require surgery and an extended rehabilitation process, effectively ending her campaign and casting doubt on her availability for the start of next year. Known for her defensive energy and playmaking ability, Colson’s absence leaves a notable gap in the Fever’s backcourt depth and leadership.

McDonald, who had been carving out a valuable role as a scoring spark and perimeter defender, sustained a broken bone in her foot. The injury will keep her sidelined for the rest of the season, and she is expected to undergo further evaluation to determine the best course of treatment. When Caitlin Clark was healthy and starting, McDonald had provided a boost off the bench with her speed and aggressive style of play. Her loss is another blow to the team’s rotation.

With both players out, the Fever will need to potentially explore roster moves to help fill the void now that all of their point guards are injured. While the team has battled through adversity this year, losing two key contributors at this stage will test both their depth and resilience.
