The 44-year-old Buccaneers quarterback enters the season with a SIC score above 90, a testament to his remarkable durability throughout his NFL career, according to our team of Pro Football Docs.
Gearing up for his 23rd season Brady has had a minimal injury history throughout his historic career. That injury history should not be much of a concern during the 2022 campaign.
Brady hasn’t missed a game due to injury in 14 years. The last time he had an extended absence was in 2008 due to a left knee ACL tear.
Notably, Brady played through a partially torn left knee MCL in the 2020 season.
He suffered the partial MCL tear in 2019, but reportedly didn’t get surgery in the offseason. He played with his left knee taped up in 2020, and even won the Super Bowl with the injury.
Following the championship victory, Brady got surgery on the MCL to get rid of the nagging pain. Brady said this offseason that he’s doing much better than last summer, when he was stuck rehabbing the knee.
Any article about Brady's health wouldn't be complete without mentioning his diet. While it may not be the exact reason he's played so long, it certainly hasn't hurt.
Last season, Brady led the NFL in pass attempts, passing yards, and was 2nd in voting for league MVP. He also had slight issues with his non-throwing shoulder and a finger on his throwing hand.
He announced his retirement this past spring, but came back just 40 days later.
How much his production will dip or rise this year has been hotly debated, but he's as healthy as can be to start the season.
