Gladiator Matthew Stafford Set For Another Productive Campaign In Los Angeles

Matt Stafford stoked some concern from the likes of Ross Tucker when news broke that he received an injection in his throwing elbow ahead of Rams’ OTAs.

Stafford reportedly dealt with pain in his elbow throughout the season, one of a litany of bumps and bruises he picked up during his 2021 Super Bowl campaign, although the only ailment that was listed by the team was his sore back.

The 34-year-old is known to be a gladiator, and despite any and all injuries he’s picked up in recent years, Stafford will carry an SIC health score of 92 into 2022.

The ProFootballDocs have always been impressed by Stafford’s toughness, as he consistently plays through injuries, and 2021 was no different.

In the final five weeks alone, Stafford suffered a right turf toe, a left mcl/high ankle sprain in the NFCCG, and a standard inversion left ankle sprain in the Super Bowl, but didn't miss a snap.

He still threw for 1,118 yards on 70% completion with nine touchdowns and three game-winning drives in the Rams’ four playoff games, and the Docs expect another proficient season from the Super Bowl-winning quarterback.

Regarding his elbow issue, there is no indication that it is a UCL/Tommy John injury, a highly unusual injury for football players, according to the Docs. His not throwing at OTA is a non-concern, and the Docs aren’t anticipating this being something that will carry over into the season.

Expect another consistent campaign from Stafford as he and Cooper Kupp attempt to repeat a landmark season.
