Ezekiel Elliott Injury: Cowboys RB Leaves After Hit to Knee

Cowboys star running back Ezekiel Elliott appeared to suffer a right knee hyperextension on a hit late in the first half.

By video, Elliott appeared to suffer a knee contusion and hyperextension, but likely avoided major injury, according to the Pro Football Docs.

The injury is to the same knee he suffered a PCL strain in last season, but the PCL is not a concern this time based on the injury mechanism.

Elliott will likely be deemed questionable to return to the matchup against Detroit. He had 7 carries for 28 yards before exiting.

If he can't continue, Tony Pollard will take over as the main running back.

Elliott's status will be something to watch ahead of next week's matchup against the Bears.
