Daniel Bellinger Injury: Giants TE to See Specialist For Eye Injury

New York Giants tight end Daniel Bellinger will reportedly travel back with the team and see an ophthalmologist in New York after suffering an eye injury against the Jaguars.

Bellinger was poked in the eye by a Jaguars defender on a 13-yard catch with just over a minute left in the second quarter.

Despite how bad the injury and swelling appeared, the Pro Football Docs are not concerned about long-term eye damage for Bellinger.

It may be tough for him to return next week against the Seahawks because of swelling, but the Pro Football Docs do not expect a multi-week absence for the former San Diego State University pass catcher.

The rookie tight end left the game and was carted to the locker room. He was ruled out a short time later.

Bellinger was taken to a local hospital for evaluation, but returned to the locker room by the end of the game.

After the game, Giants head coach Brian Daboll said Bellinger's eye “looked terrible,” but he did not have any further updates.

New York (6-1) faces Seattle in Week 8. If Bellinger can't play, Tanner Hudson would likely fill in as the receiving tight end.

Bellinger has 16 catches for 152 yards on the season.
