Dalton Schultz Injury: Cowboys TE Hurts Knee Late in Win
2 min read • September 19, 2022
Dallas Cowboys tight end Dalton Schultz appeared to injure his right knee late in the 20-17 win over the Bengals.
By video, Schultz was tackled hard on a pass in the flat and landed hard on his right knee.
He did not return to the game and could be dealing with a low-grade PCL strain, according to the Pro Football Docs, although the injury mechanism was also consistent with a knee contusion.
The 26-year-old tight end will likely undergo an MRI on Monday to assess the injury. If the PCL strain is confirmed, he could miss anywhere from 2-to-4 weeks.
Schultz had 2 catches on 2 targets for 18 yards before exiting late in the fourth quarter.
He had 7 catches on 9 targets for 62 yards in Week 1 against the Buccaneers.
If Schultz is unavailable in Week 3, Jake Ferguson would likely get the start at tight end.
The Cowboys (1-1) travel to New York to face the Giants next Monday night.
New York is favored by 3 points in that contest and the over/under is 39.5, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
