Colorado's Travis Hunter to Miss Oregon and USC Games With Lacerated Liver

The Colorado Buffaloes, ranked No. 19 by The Associated Press, are emerging as a thrilling force in college football, with Travis Hunter playing a pivotal role in their recent success.

In the Buffaloes' season opener against TCU, Hunter logged an impressive 126 snaps according to PFF. His versatility has made him a standout cornerback and a dynamic wide receiver for Colorado.

However, during a double-overtime victory against Colorado State on Saturday night, Hunter sustained a severe blow to his liver.

After a thorough evaluation at the hospital, it was confirmed that Hunter had suffered a lacerated liver. Colorado coach Deion Sanders informed 247 Sports on Monday that Hunter will be sidelined for three weeks due to an illegal hit he endured during Saturday's game against Colorado State.

According to the Pro Football Docs, Hunter is expected to be sidelined for a period ranging from 2 to 4 weeks. This time is necessary for the injury to properly heal, as there are potential complications associated with reinjury.

Despite Hunter's absence from the first quarter onward, the Buffaloes' offense managed to rack up 43 points, with Shedeur Sanders throwing for 348 yards.

Nonetheless, the defense will face challenges without Hunter, especially with two of the team's next three games pitting them against the top-ranked scoring offense (USC) and the second-ranked scoring offense (Oregon).

This marks the first time Colorado will be up against first-round quarterback talent, and the absence of Hunter could prove detrimental to their performance.
