Caitlin Clark To Miss Extended Time Due To Groin Injury

Caitlin Clark To Miss Extended Time Due To Groin Injury

Caitlin Clark is set to miss more time this season with the second injury of her career with a left groin strain. She had been a little over a week after missing 5 games with a left quadriceps strain.

When Caitlin Clark Sustained Injury

Clark appeared hurt on an innocuous play at the end of a game where The Fever had an 8-point lead with 16 seconds left in a game vs the Storm.

Injury Impact and Analysis

ProFootballDoc Dr. David Chao weighed in with his analysis of the injury

Expect another extended absence from Clark from this injury. At least another two weeks. It may be wise for the Indiana Fever to take an even slower approach to this injury than they did with the quad injury a couple of weeks ago.

Coach Stephanie White said she learned about Caitlin Clark’s injury late Wednesday night after the team’s medical staff took her for an MRI.

"I think it's very much a day-to-day thing ... how she responds to treatment," White said Thursday when asked about Clark’s potential return.

Clark had never missed a game in college or during her rookie WNBA season until she recently sat out five games with a left quad injury. She returned just over a week ago, and during her absence from May 28 to June 10, the Fever posted a 2-3 record.

In the five games since her return, Clark has averaged 17.8 points per game, highlighted by a 32-point performance against the New York Liberty that gave the defending champs their first loss of the season. She knocked down seven threes in that game, but has since struggled from beyond the arc, hitting just 1-of-23 from deep over her last three outings—two of which were Fever losses.

"Groin strains are rarely day-to-day. It would be a good outcome if she returned in a week to two weeks." @profootballdoc on Caitlin Clark's groin injury.

Caitlin gets subbed back in up 8 with 16 seconds to go and the ball. She ends up grabbing her left groin a bit after the fall off the fumbled pass. EYE wouldn’t have subbed her back in. Game was practically over.
