Bryce Young is reportedly expected to start against Tennessee after missing the team’s game last week with a sprained AC joint.
According to the College Football Docs, Young’s sprained AC joint is usually a 1-2 week absence. This is the second week of the injury, thus it is likely a matter of how much discomfort he can play through.
Also, there should be no limitation on his throwing motion or accuracy. Young may take a pain-numbing injection or play through the pain.
Alabama head coach Nick Saban talked to Dennis Dodd on CBS Sports HQ about Young's status.
“We'll find out in pregame," said Saban. "He's been able to practice some this week. We'll see if he has the arm strength and see what his pain tolerance is, although I think [the pain is] going away. We won't know until we go out in pregame.”
Young is the reigning Heisman trophy recipient in college football for his masterful performance last year. This year he has thrown for 1,202 yards and 14 touchdowns with an 84.7 QBR. In the game, he got hurt; he was 7-of-13 for 173 yards and one touchdown pass.
In his absence, quarterback Jalen Milroe started and didn’t make as much impact through the air as Young would. Look for Young to suit up this week and continue his fantastic season.
Alabama is favored by 8.5 points on the road and the over/under is 67.5, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
Early this week, our SIC Picks staff advised taking the Crimson Tide at -7.
