The blistering Braves were without star right fielder Ronald Acuña Jr. on Sunday because of significant bruising and swelling in his left foot.
The 24-year has yet to be placed on the 10-day IL but said on Sunday that a stint is in the realm of possibility.
Acuña Jr. told reporters through his interpreter that he can't put any pressure on his left foot and is using a medical scooter. However, X-rays were negative and an MRI did not reveal any structural damage.
Acuña Jr. fouled a ball of the inside top of his left foot in the third inning of Saturday's game, as shown below. He initially stayed in the game but left after the eighth inning.
The Pro Baseball Docs believe Acuña could rejoin the Braves lineup as early as Tuesday against the Phillies, after a scheduled day off on Monday.
The 2018 NL Rookie Of The Year is batting .281 with even home runs, eight doubles, 28 runs, and 13 stolen bases in 196 at-bats this season while posting a career-worst .455 slugging percentage.
Acuña Jr. returned in late April from a torn ACL and has missed small pockets of time with issues related to his re-acclimation.
This is not the first foot injury for the 42-31 Braves, who are already without star second baseman Ozzie Albies for most of the season with multiple fractures in his left foot.
